Board of Directors

Terry McNabb – President

Terry McNabb has a business background with a degree in Business Administration from Saint Michael’s College. He cofounded and ran three different companies during his career. Since moving to Stowe in 2007, Terry has consulted for his old company and volunteered for two primary organizations – the Stowe Education Fund raising money for the local schools and Mt. Mansfield Ski Club. Terry is an avid skier who participates in the local ski bum race series each winter. Terry’s two children have been participants in MMSC’s programs – his son as an athlete and his daughter most recently as a coach. When Terry and his wife Diane decided to move their family to Vermont, their goal was to choose the best place where they could raise their children. They have not been disappointed.

Dave Merriam – Vice President

Dave is the Director of Mountain Recreation at the Stowe Mountain Resort. His responsibilities include overseeing the Ski and Snowboard School and have since 1995. He moved to Stowe along with his wife Eva (Pfosi) Merriam in 1989 from Sugarloaf in Maine after a stint at Colby College. “I was enrolled in the Pre-Med program,” recalls Dave, “but the call of the snow was so overpowering that I put those plans on hold, and never looked back. I skied on the US Demo Team from 1984 to 1995, and I was the head coach from 1996-2004. Following being named to the Demo Team”, say’s Merriam, “colleagues encouraged me to move west to maximize my opportunities. So in the fall of 1989, Eva and I moved west to Stowe and we have been here ever since.”  Merriam appeared in Warren Millers “Learn to Ski Better,” and “Learn to Ski Better II” and in Greg Stump’s first film “The Droids.”  He was the instructional editor for Ski Magazine from 1994-97, was on the USSCA Educational Staff from 1988-2002 and coached at the Tecnica Summer ski camps from 1988-92. Dave and Eva (ex US Ski Team and NCAA All-American) live in Elmore and have two daughters, Hannah and Lucy. Lucy is a graduate of MMWA 2012.

RB was part of a small group of students who resurrected the Colby Ski Team after a lengthy dormancy and captained the team for three years. He worked with the athletic department, administration, and Board of Trustees of the College to bring the program to varsity status. After college RB worked with the Swiss Challenge program in Zermatt for four summers, was a (J5/J6) weekend coach at Waterville Valley, and participated on the Masters circuit for a couple of seasons. After living in New York City and Boston he returned to Vermont to work for Harrington’s of Vermont, where he is the COO. RB and his wife have a son who participates in MMSC programs and a daughter now skiing for Colby College after coming through the MMSC program.

She’s served as a J5/6 and U12 coach, taught Finance at the Academy, and has experience in the ski service industry. Ashley’s professional background is in management consulting, she holds a BA from Colgate University and and MBA from Cornell University, and she currently works in Strategy & Insights for Select Design in Burlington, VT.

Andrew Arnott

Andrew (“Drew”) Arnott is the President & CEO of John Hancock Investments.  He was raised in Andover, Massachusetts by parents that immigrated to the United States from Scotland in 1967.  While his parents did not grow up with an understanding for the sport of ski racing, the Scottish Highlands were in their blood and they did not mind supporting Drew’s passion for the mountains.  Growing up, Drew skied the White Mountains of New Hampshire and enjoyed racing alpine, eventually racing for Boston University where he captained the team for two years.  His self-described “undistinguished” ski racing career came to an end upon getting his undergraduate degree in business.  While banging gates became a fading memory, he never left the mountains.  Between graduate school and later starting a family with his wife KC, he committed every free weekend to the long drive north from Boston to the great state of Vermont, eventually buying a home in Stowe.  Drew and his wife KC have two daughters Emily and Mackenzie.  Both girls currently race for MMSC and attend MMWA (where Drew is also a board member).

Carey Strobeck

Carey is currently a professional mom of four kids, ages 17 to 11. All ski racers. Over the last 10 years, Carey has been involved in design renovations. Carey received her Masters in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio. She taught kindergarten through second grade for many years. Previously, she was a three sport athlete at St Lawrence University participating in field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse. Carey, husband Matt and their kids reside in Vermont where she continues her passion of many sports on a daily basis and immense love of family.

Tad Davis

Tad and his wife Maura have three children; Faye (8), Gwen (5), & Teddy (5), and are enjoying finally skiing together as a family.  Growing up in Vermont, Tad began his ski racing career at MMSC, went on to race for Boston College and continues to make appearances at the local Ski Bum races here in Stowe.  Tad and his family split their time between the mountains of VT and suburbs of Boston.  When he is not in the woods or on a trail, Tad is busy running his distribution company, Davis Family Deli Provisions.
